Te Āhuru Recreation Centre

Our students-only Te Āhuru Recreation Centre in WQ building on the AUT City Campus offers spaces where you can do more than study – you can use it to connect with friends and cultivate your interests. The rec centre has a sports court, dance and exercise studios, flexible spaces for clubs to meet, and large spaces to gather and share food.

Location and hours

We're located at 39 Wakefield Street on the AUT City Campus.

Open hours for Te Āhuru Recreation Centre:

  • Monday to Friday: 8am-9pm
  • Saturday: 9am-2pm
  • Sunday: 9am-1pm

Timetable

Examples of activities include: pick-up sports like basketball, volleyball, futsal and badminton; salsa dance class, meditation class, board games club, Ocha no jikan club and X-Box gaming.

Spaces and facilities

You can use or book spaces in the recreation centre for different sports and activities. Available spaces include:

  • 4 activity rooms (1 studio with sprung floors and mirrors, 3 studios with carpet and full AV systems)
  • Cardio room with exercise bikes
  • Multi-purpose sports court
  • Kitchen facilities
  • Common areas with games and a large screen for viewing sports, events or films
