Employers look for good grades, but they also want their future employees to demonstrate soft skills, including collaboration, co-operation, community, curiosity, communication and creativity. The Beyond AUT Award helps you develop these skills which are expected of you at the postgraduate level by employers, both here and overseas.
It’s likely you're already doing activities that are appropriate to count towards this award – but you need to have registered for the award before the activities can be logged. For example working in a part-time job outside of AUT; helping out a local charity such as Eat My Lunch or the City Mission, attending employer events on campus; getting your LinkedIn profile ready to show employers….these can all be counted towards the award. If you aren’t already involved in volunteering or attending presentations etc, our employability specialists will help you get started.
Excellent employability skills make you stand out from the crowd. The Beyond AUT Award helps you develop these skills. To complete this section of the award you must:
1) Submit a Graduate Level CV (you will be redirected to a workshop if this is not at graduate standard)
2) Submit a Graduate Level LinkedIn Profile (you will be redirected to a workshop if this is not at graduate standard)
3) Attend a Networking Event with AUT Alumni – These run once each semester during Employability Matters
4) Attend a Postgraduate Career Path Workshop – regularly run by the Employability team
These workshops are run regularly by the Employability and Careers team. Your attendance needs to be verified to be credited towards the Beyond AUT Award. The easiest way to do this is to book into events on on Employability Lab Online.
