Social and recreational sport opportunities

Social and recreational sports are a great way to have fun, meet people, and stay active! There are loads of social sports opportunities at AUT. Pop into the Te Ahuru Recreation Centre at the City Campus to see what’s on.

Residential sport: for students in AUT accommodation

Students living in AUT’s student accommodation – Wellesley Student Apartments, Akoranga Student Village and Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation – compete against each other in the Annual Battle of the Bridge Series Tournament. Keep an ear out in your residential apartments to get involved.

Community sport

We run several community teams in the sub-football social 7-aside league. These teams run year-round and provide a friendly and laid-back opportunity to play football.

Campus Cup

Te Āhuru Recreation Centre will kick off AUT’s first Campus Cup competition for 2024. Join us for a series of organised recreational sports on campus, exclusively for AUT students. Campus Cup offers a series of social leagues and tournaments that include a range of sports, including basketball, volleyball, netball, futsal, e-sports, and more! You can join as a team or as an individual.
