Seasonal sport teams and clubs

At AUT you can play a variety of sports in clubs and teams. The AUT Sport team supports students on all campuses and helps new and established sports teams compete in domestic and national leagues and tournaments.

We have multiple sporting clubs which give you the chance to play in competitive leagues and competitions Auckland-wide.

Formed in 2016, AUT Basketball Club was established to provide basketball opportunities for students at AUT to continue playing once they left high school. Now open to both students, alumni and the odd community member, the club has grown quickly in numbers.

Catering for competitive teams with players at all skill levels, the club has four men’s teams and one women’s team entered into the North Harbour Basketball competition.

AUT Football caters for both male and female football players at a semi-competitive level. The women's team play in the NRF Community competition (Div 2 or 3), while the men’s team/s play in the ASFA competition (league TBC).

In 2022 we had two men’s teams and one women’s team (number of teams vary from year to year based on level of interest). Both teams are affiliated to NSU (North Shore United), based at Allen Hill Stadium, Devonport.

Training grounds are generally in Takapuna/Bayswater area. Game day is Sunday, and teams generally play once a week on a weekday evening.

The AUT Netball Club welcomes all students, staff, alumni and community members. With many teams ranging from Premier 1 to Senior 5, there is a team for all skill levels.

The club plays out of the Netball North Harbour Club competitions, and we provide subsidised season fees for players and well-resourced teams. The season runs from April to August, with trials starting on 22 February, 2024.
