Enrolling in courses and classes

Once you have accepted your offer of place at AUT, you are ‘admitted’ into your chosen qualification at AUT. The next step is enrolment in your courses – this is where you select the courses needed to meet the requirements of your programme. Find out how to enrol online in your courses and classes here.

In many bachelor’s degrees, first-year students are directly enrolled into their courses by their faculty. In some programmes, first-year students can enrol themselves online. Most returning students are also encouraged to self-enrol.

Enrolling with the ‘Build a degree’ option

These programmes have a ‘build your degree’ option when you enrol online; meaning you can select one of several pathways:

  • Bachelor of Arts
  • Bachelor of Business
  • Bachelor of Communication Studies
  • Bachelor of Computer and Information Sciences
  • Bachelor of Design
  • Bachelor of International Hospitality Management
  • Bachelor of Science

Enrolling without the ‘Build a degree’ option

If you’re studying any other AUT programme, review the programme enrolment information from your faculty first so that you understand what courses are required to complete your qualification.

Once you have logged into Arion web, you may be able to choose a preferred course from a list of options.

Selecting an elective course

Your programme may include the option to include elective courses - courses of your choice you take simply for interest. An elective can be taken from almost any subject area. Elective courses count towards your qualification but not towards your major, minor or specialisation.
