Accessing AUT computers from home

If you're an AUT student, you can access AUT computers remotely. This means you can log into an AUT computer when you're off-campus and use specialist software that you may need for your studies.

In response to the Government’s alert levels, AUT wanted to ensure all students have the ability to achieve their educational goals even within the COVID-19 restrictions.

We’ve arranged to lease up to 1,500 laptops and partnered with Skinny Jump to provide connectivity data packages to assist our students who wouldn’t otherwise been able to study online. These devices are loaned to students free of cost, to encourage students to make use of this offer. For data packages, students will get an initial 30Gb free data and 15Gb free on 1st of each month.

Request a data package

AUT students can request a data package directly from one of Skinny's partners listed on their website - and we've got you covered for monthly data.

Please note that Skinny Jump is not available everywhere. To check to see if you are eligible for Skinny Jump, and how to receive a modem:

  1. Go to https://www.skinny.co.nz/jump/home/
  2. Click on 'check my address'
  3. Enter your address into the address search field to see if Skinny Jump is available at your address, and details of your local community partner.
  4. If you can get Skinny Jump at your address, click on the details of the community partner and call the number provided.
  5. The community partner will discuss your eligibility to confirm you meet the criteria set out here - https://www.skinny.co.nz/jump/about/ and how to get a modem.  It is most likely this will be sent by courier to your address.
  6. Follow the instructions in the modem, or watch the video on https://www.skinny.co.nz/jump/help/ to get your modem set up.
