Canvas is AUT’s new web-based learning environment where students can access course materials including lecture slides, course readings, assessments, grades, and your academic team all in one place. Once you’ve enrolled into your courses for the semester, all your course materials will be available in Canvas – either through your web browser or the Canvas Student app.
Learn more about your faculty on the Canvas faculty pages below, meet some of the team and see what support they provide.
Canvas is intuitive and easy to use. If you're new to Canvas, use the videos and resources on the 101 Canvas help page to get started.
Your login name and password for Canvas will be the same as they are for logging onto Student Hub Online and AUT computers. Your default password is your day and month of birth in this format (ddmmm) Example: 03aug. You can reset your password if you've forgotten it.
Canvas has now replaced Blackboard for all your learning needs. If you need to access any previous course content, you can still do so on Blackboard until April 2023.
If you need help with using Canvas, you can chat directly with Canvas Support through a 24/7 live chat. When you're using Canvas, you’ll find it in the left-hand menu, under Help.
If you have a technical issue with Canvas, log it with the ICT Service Desk.
The Canvas Student App is a great way to keep up to date with activity in your courses. You'll find it in the Play Store or the Apple Store.
Once the app is installed:
