Canvas is AUT’s new web-based learning environment where students can access course materials including lecture slides, course readings, assessments, grades, and your academic team all in one place. Once you’ve enrolled into your courses for the semester, all your course materials will be available in Canvas – either through your web browser or the Canvas Student app.
If you’re only getting guest access when you join a class or meeting on Teams, it's because you're not logged in with your AUT network details. When you move between Canvas and Office 365 (including Teams), you may need to log in again each time:
Canvas is intuitive and easy to use. If you're new to Canvas, use the videos and resources on the 101 Canvas Help page to get started.
Download and use the Canvas Student app on your phone. Once the app is installed, search for ‘AUT’ and log in using your AUT login details.
Your login name and password for Canvas will be the same as they are for logging onto Student Hub Online and AUT computers. Your default password is your day and month of birth in this format (ddmmm) Example: 03aug. You can reset your password if you've forgotten it.
Canvas has now replaced Blackboard for all your learning needs. If you need to access any previous course content, you can still do so on Blackboard until April 2023.
Find out who to contact if you need help using Canvas, have a technical issue, or have questions about your course.
If you need help with how to use Canvas, you can chat directly with them through a 24/7 live chat. You’ll find it in Canvas, under Help.
If you have a technical issue with Canvas, log it with the ICT Service Desk.
