Canvas viewing assessments

Learn how to use Canvas to locate your assessments for the AUT courses you're studying and to find out when they're due by watching the following video.

Viewing assessment details

To view the details of an assessment, click on the assessment and review the details listed in the top-centre of the page in Canvas. When an assessment is open for you to submit at any time, you can view the due date, points and the type(s) of submission(s) you can use for the assessment. You can also view additional details.

Date settings

There are three date settings for each assessment in Canvas. Your course may use any of these dates as needed:

• Available from: This is the date when you can view the assessment details as well as start submitting the assessment
• Available until: This is the date when you can make your submissions until. Note that due date is the one deciding if your submission is on time or late!
• Due: This is the date when the assessment is due.
  • By default, Canvas accepts late submissions until the 'Until' date, if one is set.
  • If you submit your assessment beyond this date (if that is allowed), your submission will be marked as late and any late penalty (if any) will apply.
